Why not go through the portal and take the fight to the monsters?

Well, considering that (although u aren't supposed to know at this point in storyline but I'm going to tell you anyway) the portal goes to HELL, I don't think it would be such a cool idea. Well, not sure if it's hell, but it's supposed to be something like that. Anyway, yea, DS is pretty inactive,...not that I'm keeping up any better. And I think a good quest would be twenty or thirty monsters get out of the portal and escape the tomb b/c we were I dunno distracted or something, and then we have to go chasing them,....

I like that idea. But it wouldn't be a very long quest, would it?

Well, there are a couple ways we could drag it out, like one of them escapes onto a ship or something that is sailing off to a distant island and then when we get there and tell the tribal native people what has happened they don't believe us and it just keeps unraveling,......

Sounds all right to me. But what ship?
Khongol, you said the shorter ones are better! What about that really long quest SAbian made? That wasn't fun?
How many monsters would come out of the portal?

I mean short ones can be as good as long. It depends on the story and the people in it.

Yes, it does. Hey, the monsters should be somewhat intelligent, and not just monsters. But I guess that was a given when it was said that they would take a ship. It would be more of a mystery quest, then a fight quest then, correct? Like, hunting down the escapees, and then we'll all go, and then more will escape the portal 'cause we're all stupid for leaving it...
Oh oh oh! We're all distracted, right? Here's a good one:
A bright shining light appeared above them all, and they all looked up at it and said, "Oooooo, a bright shining light" and they all stare for minutes on end while there are explosions of exits of monsters from the portal just feet behind them.
Whaddaya think?

Matt (Tommy21) is wrong, the portal doesn't lead to hell, but that quest sounds interesting

How could the portal lead to hell if X came through it? I was under the impression that it was simply like a dimension gate, like in Stargate SG-1.
And I didn't mean to insult your quest idea. I like it, it just needs a little, ...substance? I dunno. I don't have anything better, so I can't complain, right?

Hm... That's a good point.. X did come through it. That'd be odd, eh? Evil Ninja's from Hell!!! Muahahahahahaha!!!!
*Ahem* I didn't just do that. Well. The quest sounds okay. But Cal's right. It does need substance. I am not sure what we would be doing... we are keepers of the tomb, and if something came out of the portal and escaped, we'd be very bad at our job, wouldn't you say? How about someone's character is an idiot and lets the monster loose? Maybe it could be an intelligent spectre that tricks them into thinking it's a lost loved one or something to that effect. Then they open the portal, and they allow it to come in, and everyone gives that guy sh*t for being so stupid, and they have to hunt it down?
Does that sound good?

Well if the guy is just plain stupid and thinks to himself:
"Hey, I wonder what'll happen if I let something out of the portal?"
Than Shimizu is your guy.
BUT! If the second idea (the one about a lost loved one etc.) is the case, Calypso's character is perfect. That plot is custom made for his character. Tailor fit. I like the idea of that last one, it'll give everyone a good sense of how Calypso is supposed to be, with his history and everything.
Of course, from what I can gather, Dedomi has a late wife/girlfriend also.

Lost loved one is kinda cool. Give the characters a bit more depth... at least the one(s) that are most directly affected.
